XRchaeology: Miller Grove Download

CTE at SIU developed XRchaeology: Miller Grove as an interactive learning tool. The Miller Grove Site is a freed slave African-American community which today is part of Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois. The settlement provided, shelter, substance, religious services, and education to its residents from 1844-c.1920. Oral histories and archaeological evidence suggests the community actively participated in the Underground Railroad, and provided a refuge from the many sundown town in the area.
This educational app provides 360 videos of archaeological digs at and near the site, an AR rendering of a 3D reconstruction of a resident's cottage, and 3D models of actual artifacts found on location.
