How it works:

QuietSpace uses your phones microphone to sense low level background urban noise (from traffic, aircraft, industry and building amenities). It is purposely designed to largely ignore more obvious higher frequency noise such as sirens or loud conversations (these are either transitory or noise you avoid naturally as you look for quiet space). Instead QuietSpace picks-up the more subtle, annoying and persistent components of noise (low frequencies) that permeate and disturb peaceful, quiet spaces where you work, relax and sleep. Cities are alive and vibrant (thats why we love them) but high levels of urban noise makes it difficult to find quiet. Scientific research shows its often most invasive and disturbing.

SENSE - shows realtime and historical levels of urban noise so its easy to see its loudness, disturbance and potential impact. It also shows you how the noise in specific locations changes over time.
